Born on Haida Gwaii, Luke Borserio has been involved in kayaking his entire life. Travelling in search of new rivers and coastlines is a great passion and he has spent time paddling on 4 seperate continents and 10+ countries. However, his favorite is right here in NorthWest BC. Transitioning between Surf, Whitewater, and Ocean Expedition paddling, Luke has represented Canada in numerous paddling events around the world. Paddling accomplishments include a 27-day solo kayak expedition along the entire length of the BC Coast, a 14hr Hecate Strait crossing via kayak when he was 20 years old, 5th place in Solo Mens in the Yukon River Quest (740km kayak ultra-marathon),Grand Canyon of the Stikine, Colorado, Nile and Zambezi Rivers, various medals in surf and whitewater events, and a lifetime spent absorbed in the waters of Haida Gwaii. Luke’s adopted Haida name is KuuWakaa, which translates as “Going with the Waves”. He began running kayak tours in high-school, and providing kayak instruction to local youth is a passion of his. Luke lives on Haida Gwaii and when not paddling works as a Registered Nurse.
